UU General Assembly Workshop

In the spring of 2017, three religious educators of color led an unprecedented dialogue across our denomination on how white supremacy was present, even in spaces considered progressive and liberal. Hear from the originators of the Teach In movement and learn how to keep the momentum going.

Collaborative Models in Shared Leadership

What does it mean to share power?

How do you maintain accountability?

What is efficiency vs effectiveness?

These are just some of the questions when organizations start to consider shifting their power structures. Old power paradigms that uphold inequity and injustice will not allow us move towards liberation.

This webinar follows our team as we move through the benefits and challenges of a fully collaborative shared ministry.          learn more

Mass Moral March

Rev Dr. William Barber, II revitalized North Carolina activism in 2013 with the Moral Mondays campaign. Soon after he reached out to clergy organizers to show up for the Mass Moral March. Organizing resources, clergy and lay leaders to support the Mass Moral March was just one of CTJ's contributions to the Moral Mondays campaign.

Leadership Retreat

First Unitarian Lynchburg

Facilitated the biannual leadership retreat of this vibrant congregation. By carefully analyzing previous retreats and interviewing key leaders, CTJ crafted a retreat which empowered the gathered to discern what was theirs to be Responsible for, Accountable for, who needed to be Consulted, who needed to be Informed and how to bring Equity into the room. (RACI+E).

LoveOverFear

August 11/12 2017 will be one of the before/after markers in the history of Charlottesville and the U.S. I was one of the organizing clergy members on the front line before, during and after the events of A11/12. Our goal was, and is, to be a faithful witness and active resistance in the face of hate and fear of white nationalists and Nazis.

#UUWhiteSupremacyTeachIN

We said what we said

One of the hardest parts of dismantling white supremacy culture? Saying the words "white supremacy" as it relates to your own organization.

The UUWhiteSupremacyTeachIn was created by a coalition of religious educators who saw a crisis in our faith communities and did what we always do...found a way to take that moment and use it to go deeper into our faith development.

SAN DIEGO
AbolishICE

On the heels of the first Trump administration's forced separation of families at the border, Mijente put out a call to clergy organizers. The call was to come to San Diego to stop "Operation Streamline", an illegal and immoral practice that strips immigrants of their right to due process and dignity.

We answered the call and joined hundreds in supporting Mijente's #AbolishICE campaign.
